since the blog is so dead, let me share a story with everyone, uhm okay the eight out there.
this ex-classmate of mine was conscripted in january 2006, just like us. sometime after passing out as naval officer, he realised his life wasnt exciting enough to be a movie and decided to sign on. all went smooth sailing for him (no pun intended) until december 2007, when he was told by senior officers that he wasnt 'strong-willed' enough for that job. he was given two choices - to pay liquidated damages of some 44k and leave the force, or serve the remaining one year of his nsf liability. he hasnt decided yet, but at the moment he is still a nsf. (yes we are kinda mocking him over this)
but who on earth are these people to judge? the reason why he went ocs is because the force thought he has, well had it seems now, all the fine qualities to be a leader. i am sure such considerations were taken into account too when he was signing on. now the very same people are singing a totally different tune. oh so it is his fault that you made a wrong judgement and he must be punished for your short-sightedness? are you going to let him disrupt for his studies come august, or hold him back another year? please, entering uni at the age of 22 is no joke.
well at least he is drawing on some reasonable pay as a lieutenant (wow a nsf left-a-nant sia! power lah must be scorer), but i dont think he gets to stay out. well i do.
